About the Journal

The ‘Śląskie Sprawozdania Archeologiczne‘ (ŚSA) is a peer-reviewed annual journal published by the Institute of Archaeology, University of Wrocław. We publish scientific articles prepared in Polish, English, German, French, Spanish, and Czech. The topics cover archaeology and works from other branches of knowledge that are inspired by archaeological research.

The first volume of ‘Śląskie Sprawozdania Archeologiczne’ (ŚSA) was published in 1958 as an annual of the Department of Polish Archaeology IHKM PAN in Wrocław. Soon after, the journal became a publication of the Chair, and then the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Wrocław. Originally, articles published in the journal dealt with the issues of Silesian archaeology, but over time their topics have extended beyond such narrowly defined boundaries. We are ambitious to continue this trend.

Currently, we publish articles on a broadly understood range of archaeological issues and interdisciplinary studies, concerning our country, Europe, and non-European areas. These articles extend beyond mere field reports, discussing the latest research discoveries in a broader context. We also include book reviews, polemics, and in the future, we aim to edit a chronicle presenting current archaeological events. Starting from the next volume, the ‘Śląskie Sprawozdania Archeologiczne’ (ŚSA) editorial board intends to publish the journal online in PDF format, alongside the print version.
